What a great way to end the year - with news that founder and producer, Marcie MacLellan, is Venice bound on her next film project. Working alongside writer/director Dan Smyth, she will be participating in a gruelling 10-day film development lab to continue work on the feature film, The Prefect. And she'll be working with some talented filmmakers to boot. The Venice Film Festival’s new film lab initiative, Biennale College, received 433 submissions from 77 countries, each
including a new project and a director and producer. They chose 15.

More press for The Prefect
The summer development of our feature film, The Prefect, funded through iFeatures2, is about to come to an end - with the next phase set to begin in early October. We're busy polishing off our treatment and adding a bit more background to our dark psychological drama. In the meantime, we're thrilled that our Writer/Director Dan Smyth is drumming up a bit of press in his local paper. Take a look.

Introducing The Prefect
A high-achieving head boy at a strict all-boys school has his ideals
shattered when his esteemed father is accused of an 'angel of mercy'
murder. Later, he struggles to accept that his father's crimes are of a
far more horrific kind.
This feature explores the phenomenon of medical killing and takes its influence from cases such as Harold Shipman, Collin Norris and Michael Swango.
The Prefect is currently in development with iFeatures2. It will be written and directed by Dan Smyth and produced by Marcie MacLellan of Incontext Productions.

About the new series: Louder Now!
LOUDER NOW! is a monthly screening of films of a feminist nature at The Star and Shadow Cinema, presented by The Gender Research Group at Newcastle University. It is intended that these films will enlighten, provoke and spark discussion, build networks, and perhaps inspire action. Each film will showcase a different aspect of feminist thought and politics, be introduced by a specialist and post-film discussion will be encouraged. LOUDER NOW! promotes an open atmosphere where every opinion, thought and feeling will be respected.
